One of the oldest members of the French Catholic Church admitted to having He sexually abused a14-year-oldgirl 35 years ago when he was a parish priest.
French Cardinal Jean-Pierre Ricard, 78, made the shocking Confession in a written statement that was read by the president of the French Episcopal Conference, Eric de Moulins-Beaufort, during a press conference in Lourdes on Monday.
The cardinal wrote in the statement that his behavior had been "reprehensible" and "produced serious and lasting consequences for that person".

Cardinal Ricard said he apologized to the victim and his family and would go. to the retreat to pray.
