Moment when a meteorologist is felled by a tree while reporting on the air about Hurricane Ian
Dramatic images captured the moment a meteorologist was hit by a tree while reporting on Hurricane Ian.
Jim Cantore of The Weather Channel was working in rain and 100 mph gusts while delivering a bulletin in Punta Gorda, Florida, on Wednesday when a tree hit the meteorologist and caused him to stumble.
Cantore placed his hands on the ground, trying to absorb the impact of the fall.
He then clung to an advertisement that was whipped so that he would not be carried away by the wind.
Cantore said, "Give me a second" as he tried to regain his composure.
He later described Hurricane Ian as "one of the worst" storms he has ever covered.
"This could be the worst thing I've seen after covering more than 25 years and 90 storms," he said.
The terrifying moment came just a few years after he had to dodge a piece of wood flying overhead while reporting on Hurricane Michael.
